Russian President Vladimir Putin has pardoned Nikolay Ogolobyak, a self-confessed cannibalistic Satanist convicted of brutally killing and devouring two children.
The release comes as Ogolobyak, who was serving a 20-year sentence, participated in the Ukraine war.
Ogolobyak, 33, was part of a Satanist sect in Yaroslavl, consisting of six other members. The group, engaged in horrifying rituals, murdered three girls and one boy aged between 16 and 17.
The victims were drugged, stabbed 666 times, dismembered, and cooked on a bonfire over two nights.
The cult conducted revolting rituals, including animal sacrifices and desecration of graves, and recited Satanist texts found on the internet.

Despite being convicted of murdering two people and desecrating the bodies and burial places, Ogolobyak’s release was facilitated by his participation in Putin’s war in Ukraine.
The controversial prisoner law in Russia allows convicts to be pardoned and released with Putin’s personal signature.
Ogolobyak, injured during the war, returned home on November 2 with severe wounds. His father confirmed his son’s participation in the conflict, stating, “He served there for six months in Storm Z…. After being wounded [he is] disabled.”
