The Labour Party has accused opposition parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), of deploying various tactics to ‘sabotage’ its Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, before, during, and after the election.
In an exclusive interview with Vanguard News, a member of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that the party had been aware of several plots to sabotage Obi since the start of the campaign.
The source disclosed that the saboteurs were intensifying their efforts post-election to distract Obi from the court process and flee the country.
The source also revealed that the opposition party had tried to sabotage Peter Obi’s candidacy by stationing different kinds of women at hotels where he lodged during the campaigns.
“They tried by stationing all kinds of women at hotels where our candidate lodged during the campaigns that failed,” the source said.
Furthermore, the saboteurs had been going through records of Obi’s financial dealings and bank accounts, but they found nothing incriminating.
Dr Yunusa Tanko, the Chief Spokesperson of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, also accused the opposition party of orchestrating a plot to discredit and delegitimize Obi.
“It is difficult to fathom and regrettably unfortunate that state institutions have become part of a well-calculated, deliberate, and orchestrated campaign of calumny by the APC to discredit and delegitimize Mr. Peter Obi and compel him to abandon his right to seek redress in court,” he said.
