Peter Obi Reveals Why He Said That He Will Start Fighting Poverty From The North

Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the recently concluded Nigerian Presidential Election, has explained the reason behind his statement that he would tackle poverty from the North if he becomes the country’s President. Mr. Obi was responding to criticisms from those who disagreed with his statement.

According to him, “When I told people that I will start fighting poverty from the north, some people said that the North is not poorer than South and that since I’m from the South, I should start here. But the truth is that I know that the vast land which we would use to solve the problem of poverty in Nigeria is in the north.” He also urged Muslims not to allow politics to divide the country, stating that Nigeria is one despite religious differences.

Mr. Obi further emphasized his commitment to serving the people and developing the country, stating that no serious leader would rest in Nigeria. He has been visiting schools and hospitals, interacting with people since the end of the election.
