The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party candidates, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, may face tough opposition in their pursuit to challenge the outcome of the February 25 presidential election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set aside over N3bn to contend in court against various petitions filed against the results of presidential, national assembly, governorship, and state house of assembly elections.
The money is being dedicated towards defending different petitions challenging the election outcome held on February 25 and March 18, 2023.
Reports state that over 100 election petitions have been filed throughout the country, by candidates and their parties, who are unhappy with the polling results.
In addition to Atiku and Obi, other presidential candidates contesting the poll’s outcome include Solomon Okangbuan of the Action Alliance (AA) and Chichi Ojei of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), who are also attempting to have the presidential election results null.
