After a long wait, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finally declared Dr. Alex Otti of the Labour Party as the winner of the Abia State governorship election. The announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon by the INEC returning officer for the state, Professor Nnenna Oti.
Dr. Otti emerged victorious with a total of 175,467 votes, while his closest rival, Okey Ahiwe of the PDP, scored 88,529 votes. The announcement of the winner was delayed due to attempts by the PDP to inflate votes from Obingwa local government, the home local government of the incumbent governor of the state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
The victory of Dr. Otti is expected to bring a new wave of change and development to the state. His track record in the private sector and his commitment to prioritize the welfare of the people have given the people of Abia State high hopes for his administration.
The people of Abia State are optimistic that Dr. Otti’s victory will bring an end to the era of underdevelopment and poor governance in the state. They believe that his administration would work towards providing quality education, healthcare, and infrastructure to the people of the state.
