I Deserve To Be In Jail – Former Minister Laments On How He Served Nigeria

A former Minister of Works, Ibrahim Musa Kazaure on Thursday noted that he is part of politicians in the country who ought be jailed over the manner in which they served the country.

Kazaure made this claim on a Radio France International programme.

The former minister who accused politicians who served since 1999 of failing the country said, “Even me talking to you, what we did to Nigeria, we deserve to be jailed.”

According to Kazaure, the level at which funds have been stolen in the country is on a high level and Nigerians suffer the cause.

Kazaure who was the former Nigerian ambassador to Saudi Arabia said no sector in the country is doing well despite the human and material resources in the country.

The former minister while speaking said, “I used to say, I, Ibrahim Musa Kazaure, we have cheated Nigeria and her poor masses. To tell you the truth, we are all the same. What we did during our time wasn’t what we should have done because some of us got the opportunity and some didn’t.”

“Not (just) this government, all of us have done nothing. If we have done something, Nigeria wouldn’t be the way it is today because we have the money and manpower but see what these small countries have turned to. They have become tourist sites to Nigerian. It’s shameful.

“It is in Nigeria that the education system is still going on strike. Then when are we going to develop? I am not going to occupy any seat in Nigeria even if they will give me for free. Whatever position one will offer.

“I challenge everyone in Nigeria, even the president, go and check. I have spoken the truth. Whoever stole Nigeria’s money should return it. I told Buhari that whoever stole should be arrested, including myself, we should return it if proven.”

Osun: If You See Me You Die – Wanted Cultist, Rasidi Oko’lu Speaks

Osun: Prison Inmate’s Wife Gives Birth To Triplets, Calls For Help

A wanted cultist in the Ede area of Osun State, Rasheed Hammed, popularly known as Rasidi Baale Oko’lu on Thursday threatened to reign havoc in the community if members of Oodua Peoples Congress and police operatives does not desist from trailing him.

Rasidi who happens to be a welder has been declared wanted for allegedly killing many in the Ede community.

The suspected cultist in a voice note obtained in Osogbo on Thursday said he his being trailed because he refused to join OPC.

Rasidi who spoke in Yoruba in the voice note accused Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal, of using some OPC to hunt him.

He charged elders in the community to intervene, or he would cause havoc if he returns to the community.

Rasidi disclosed that he refused to join OPC because the people who invited him are allegedly armed robbers.

He said,“I am a thug and I was earning money on the street. I don’t steal. I am not a thief. I am an artisan. I am a welder. They wanted me and my boys to join them in OPC. But then I have people I regarded as mothers and elderly ones that were OPC members. Those people told me that those that invited me to OPC were thieves, especially Doki. In my presence, one of those that invited me to OPC went to steal an iron rod and he killed someone at the scene about 5 years ago in Ede here.

“Despite their antecedents, some elders in the community still indulged and continue to associate with them. I rejected the invitation to join OPC. That made them attack my base. They came in the early hours of February 2, 2020, but we dealt with them. Those that came were OPC members. Because they suffered heavy casualties, they had to join forces with a member Special Anti Robbery Squad from Osun police Command.

“Timi of Ede ordered us not to involve in violence again and we all abide by the order. But after all that, the OPC men still attacked me on December 4, 2021, and two of my younger brothers were killed right in front of a police station. And one other that ran into the police station was traced into the station and he was killed in the presence of the policemen.

“Few of the elders that spoke to me only pleaded but no action was taken to punish the perpetrators. I listened to the pleading and I mourned the dead. I bought gifts, made stickers campaigning for peace in Ede land. I funded street light project in our area, I distributed food items to all the mosques in our area. After all the efforts, these OPC men still attacked and killed my elder brother at Owode, Ede. Apart from the deceased named Kehinde, my younger brother was shot in the stomach and I was also shot several times and they went away with my vehicle.

“After that, Doki Wakili, Oriade and Jagunlabi killed my mother. She was killed on Tuesday, 22nd February 2022. I hereby appealed to all indigenes, Osun State Government, Federal Government to intervene. All royal fathers in Osun should also intervene.

“Some OPC men also came to Isale Osun on 9th March, they packed people’s property and took them away in five buses. No one could do anything about it. I am using this medium to tell all Ede residents that I am coming and when I return, the effect will be felt by many people. Those not involved in the crises will pay for it. Before now, people used to see me and greet me. But when I return, if you see me, you see death. I see you, you die, you see me, you die.”

Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal, denied the allegation levelled against him by Rasidi, adding that he never ordered that the man’s head should be brought by anyone.

The royal father, while speaking at the turning of sod for 180 housing units project for civil servants in the state in Abere on Thursday said, “It (insecurity in Ede) was an issue between OPC men and cultists. I am not supporting any of them because I don’t know any of them, either Rasidi or the OPC members.

“The people disturbing the peace of Ede land are few in number. I don’t know them and neither do I send them to go and bring me the head of Rasidi. Rasidi has sent a lot of voice notes out in which he insulted me, despite not knowing him. Ede is a peaceful land. I am calling on the government to please come to our aid and save us from this situation and find a permanent solution to it.”

The state police command has declared Rasidi wanted, adding that anyone that harboured him would also be treated as a criminal.

The spokesperson of the command, Yemisi Opalola said Rasidi is wanted in connection with offences of murder, arson, ritual killing and armed robbery.

She said, “suspect has been causing menace in Ede and the entire Osun state. Anybody by harbour the suspect will be treated by the police as an accomplice to the crimes. Anybody having useful information to his whereabouts will be handsomely rewarded.”

Buni Remains APC Caretaker Chairman – Umahi

APC Vs PDP: Gov.Umahi, Deputy appeal sack ruling

The Governor of Ebonyi, David Umahi on Thursday insisted that his counterpart in Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni remains the Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.

Umahi made this claim while threatening to deal with members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.

He further stated that there is no crisis in the ruling party, as he called on members of the party to dispel the report that the party is divided.

Umahi disclosed that Buni went on medical leave and they were three when he asked the Governor of Niger State, Sani Bello to act for him.

He said, “We are battle-ready. This is not about the Governor of Ebonyi State; Nigerians are fighting for us. I want to thank the National Chairman of APC.

“And let me tell you that there is no division in APC. The chairman went on medical leave. And we were there when he asked the governor of Niger State, Mr Bello, to act for him.

“If there will be change, it will be notified. But for now, there is no change, and there is no crack.

“It is the PDP that is doing everything to destroy this country. But let me tell you, the attention of our party, the APC, has been drawn to all their antics, why they are misleading this country.”

This is coming after a Federal High Court in Abuja sacked Umahi, and his Deputy, Eric Kelechi Igwe, over their defection from the PDP to APC.

Ukraine War: Russia Issues Fresh Threats

The Russian government has said foreign firms that fled the country amid the ongoing fight with Ukraine should know that it will not be easy to return to its markets.

Naija News understands that many businesses owned by foreigners have shut down their firms leaving employees stranded in the rise of the ongoing war with Ukraine.

Russia is however stating that the firms may have their companies and production facilities confiscated by the Russian state as a result of their decisions.

Businesses that leave the country are “basically abandoning their staff to their fate,” said former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev in a terse statement on Thursday.

To prevent people ending up unemployed and on the streets, the Russian government is taking steps to bring about the insolvency and subsequent nationalisation of these companies,” the deputy chief of the Russian Security Council said.

On the foundation of the assets left behind by investors in panic, the new industry would have to be built. This approach is objective and fair,” said Medvedev.

Naija News understands that among the affected are companies from Germany, other EU countries, and the United States of America.

Though there is presently no law in Russia to nationalize a company’s assets, calls are, however, growing among Russian politicians for such a law in reaction to the EU sanctions.

There is much anticipation by stakeholders to see the Russian parliament decide on such a process soon.

Naija News understands that quite a number of the Western companies affected had only announced that operations are being paused at first, without mentioning full closure or withdrawal.

Whatever the reasons for moving away, foreign firms should understand that it will not be easy to come back to our markets,” Medvedev reiterated.

Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, warned that the nationalisation of Western companies and seizure of their assets could have negative consequences for both sides, as Russian companies abroad may also have their assets seized.

Proposals are also circulating for the assets of companies in Russia to be handled through fiduciary trusts.

Sunday Igboho Resumes Talk On Yoruba Nation, Reveals ‘Best’ Strategy

Yoruba Elders Back Igboho's Fresh Eviction Notice To Fulani Herdsmen

Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, has resumed discussion on the actualization of the Yoruba Nation.

Naija News recalls that Igboho was conditionally released from Cotonou prison on March 7 after spending over two hundred days in detention on the accusation of criminal association.

He was initially arrested in Benin while attempting to board a flight for Germany.

The activist had demanded independence for the Yoruba race following killings and unrest in the South-West region which is attributed to Fulani herders.

Igboho’s actions prompted President Muhammadu Buhari-led government in connection with security agencies to attempt to arrest him while in Nigeria.

However, three days after his release from the Benin Republic prison, Sunday Igboho believed Yoruba can achieve self-determination “without firing a bullet”.

Naija News understands that the activist was quoted as saying this in a statement by one of his counsels, Chief Yomi Alliyu (SAN).

Igboho has also urged his supporters, especially his kinsmen at home and in the diaspora to embrace dialogue in their quest for self-determination without heating the fragile situation in Nigeria.

The activist had in a viral video clip earlier, prayed against war.

Igboho has maintained his call for peace considering the current situation in Europe involving Russia and Ukraine.

He also expressed displeasure with the unrest in the South-East of Nigeria.

Igboho again, thanked all his supporters, leaders, and President of the Republic of Benin, Patrice Talon, over his release from prison.

The statement read, “Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Igboho Oosa thanked all that are supporting him, especially his leaders, Baba Prof. Akintoye and Baba Prof. Wale Adeniran and all Nigerians especially his people in Ilana Oodua and affiliates seeking self-determination.

“He continues to preach against war seeing what is happening in Ukraine and some parts of Igboland in Nigeria. He implored all, especially his kinsmen at home and in the diaspora, to embrace dialogue in their quest for self-determination without heating the very fragile situation in Nigeria.

“He believes that their ambition will be achieved without firing a bullet as he used to say at rallies.

“He appreciates Chief Dele Momodu being the only Yorubaman of note that came to visit him in Cotonou prison. He remains grateful to the President of the Republic of Benin, President Talon, for releasing him from prison to unite him with members of his immediate family, albeit only in Cotonou for the time being.

“He assures all those in support of peaceful self-determination through a referendum that the struggle continues as she will not relent in his efforts in that regard.

“He pledged his eternal loyalty and respect to Chief Yomi Alliyu SAN who though an extreme Buharist and a nationalist who does not believe in the Balkanisation of Nigeria, exhibited extreme professionalism in taking up his case with DSS without a kobo and winning it with landmark award of #20.5billion dollars!”

In a chat with the Nation, an unnamed aide to Governor Buni said his principal legally handed over the affairs of the party to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State before leaving the country.

He stated that the comments made by governor El-Rufai during the interview on Wednesday were faulty and baseless, adding that governor Buni’s letter to Bello was explicit.

Buni’s aide asked El-Rufai to tell Nigerians what actually transpired between President Buhari and some governors last Sunday before departing for London.

He said: “Buni couldn’t have been removed by anybody or a group of Governors because his letter was explicit. He followed due process and nominated Bello to act for him.

“Governor el-Rufai should tell Nigerians what actually transpired between President Muhammadu Buhari and some governors last Sunday. His narratives are faulty.

“Nigerians should ask Bello and CECPC members if such a letter came to them from Buni.

MC Oluomo: Police Take Over Lagos Motor Parks, Garages

Police operatives in Lagos State have taken over motor parks and garages in the state in order to forestall the breakdown of law and order.

Naija News reports that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, gave the directive during a press conference at the police headquarters in Ikeja on Thursday.

The directive follows the indefinite suspension of the Lagos chapter chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.

Alabi stated that the directive for the deployment of operatives to all motor parks across the state was necessary to curb any violence that may arise from MC Oluomo’s suspension.

The commissioner ordered the area commanders and DPOs to maintain visibility in their area of coverage, assuring Lagos residents of adequate security of life and property.

In a related development, MC Oluomo and all members of the union in the state announced their withdrawal from the national body.

Rising from a meeting at the state secretariat, Agege, Akinsanya said all attempts to have an amicable resolution to the crisis with the national body have failed.

Akinsanya noted that he and other members from over 200 branches and zones have decided to withdraw their membership to promote peace in the state.
