The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has said the State legislative arm of government will ensure that justice is served in the case of the murder of Bamise Ayanwole.
Recall that Naija News earlier reported that a video had emerged online where Nice Andrew, the driver of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), where Oluwabamise Ayanwole was abducted and murdered, confessed to his involvement in the sad incident.
The latest video spotted online contradicts the earlier statement he made regarding the death of Bamise during an interview with TVC.
Andrew after his arrest on Monday had denied being responsible for the death of the 22-year-old fashion designer.
The BRT driver had claimed that the bus was hijacked at gunpoint by some unknown individuals.
However, in a new video, Andrew disclosed that Bamise forced herself out of the bus through the back door and he was afraid to report the case because of the dirty acts he has done.
The alleged murder of the deceases and the video of the driver admitting he is guilty has obviously not sat well with the public as some aggrieved members of the society have stormed the House of Representative to show their displeasure at the situation.
Obasa, while addressing the protesters promised that those who were responsible the murder of the deceased would be caught and punished.
The protesters who visited the Lagos House of Assembly with the deceased elder sister called on the government to ensure the security of lives and property.
He said: “The erroneous belief that it would be swept under the carpet is unnecessary. The driver has been arrested and is in custody.
“We are watching and must ensure justice is done on the case. The Governor has spoken about it and I just want to appeal that we work together to get justice.
“We will do everything to make sure that justice is served. Justice must be served. And everybody in Lagos must be protected.”
Meanwhile, during plenary, Obasa had called on citizens and leaders to use the opportunity of the International Women’s Day to tackle issues which were down playing the equity of women in the country.
He expressed his grievance at the constant attack on women by perpetrators of heinous crimes.
“As a government, we must look inward to see the areas that are beneficial to the women. Women have become victims of violence and other crimes. What have we done for the emancipation of our women? How much of our women have we lost during child birth?
“We must encourage our women to be successful and live better,” he said. This article was originally published on Nigeria News
