A major political crisis has hit the Ebonyi state government as 15 lawmakers have been sacked by a Federal High Court in Abuja over their defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.Best News Network earlier reported that the State governor, Dave Umahi and his Deputy, Kelechi Igwe have also been sacked by the court over their defection to the APC.
The lawmakers are to immediately vacate their seats. Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a judgment on Tuesday, held that their defection was unlawful and that having abandoned that political party on which platform they stood election, they could no longer occupy the seats.
Justice Ekwo declared their seats vacant and restrained them from further parading themselves in the capacity of members of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.
Some of the lawmakers include Odefa Obasi Odefa, Kingsley Ikoro, Joseph Ununu, Nkemka Okoro, among others.
