“Nigeria Is In Trouble”: Soyinka Says As Datti Ahmed Warns CJN Not To Sworn In Tinubu As President

Nigeria is in trouble, according to Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, who has responded to comments made by the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba Ahmed.

Ahmed had warned the Chief Justice of Nigeria not to swear in President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Soyinka described Ahmed’s words as inciting and accused the Labour Party of having a creeping fascism within their ranks.

While analyzing the third force, which is the Labour Party, Soyinka alleged that the party seems to have a huge fascism slithering into it.

He argued that the birth of the third force did not happen overnight but was a build-up. Soyinka identified that the third force had lost momentum after the election, and the creeping fascism within the ranks of the new force was causing people to perceive them as rigid.

He expressed his concern over the warning made by Ahmed to the CJN, stating that he understood how the new force was beginning to lose momentum due to its fascism tendency among its followers.

Soyinka questioned how a democrat aspiring to rule could speak in such an inciting way, stating that Nigeria is in trouble. He argued that people started seeing fascism as something that should be right there and now, and if you disagree with them on strategy, they show an adamant nature to change.

Soyinka concluded by stating that creeping fascism is within the ranks of the new force and that no democrat should speak in such an inciting way in the pursuit of power.

He said, ”The election is actually a consequence. Most especially the birth of the third force which is the Labour party. It didn’t happen overnight, it’s a build up. And when this third force seems to have reached a mass moment. Unfortunately, there was a lot of fascism creeping in. People started seeing it as something that should be right there and now. And if you disagree with them on strategy, they show this adamant nature to change. the creeping fascism is within the ranks of the new force.

In the recent programme that I watched where this person speaking on air warned the CJN, I said I understand how this new force was beginning to lose momentum. And this is because of it Fascism tendency among it followers. How can a democrat aspiring to rule speak like that in an inciting way? I listened to that man talking and I said Nigeria is in trouble.”
