The recent incident involving a man opposing the swearing-in of President-elect Bola Tinubu at Abuja Airport has revealed two shocking discoveries. The man in question has been identified as Obiajulu Uja, who hails from Oji-River Local Government Area of Enugu State.
According to reports, Obiajulu was removed from an Ibom Air flight by security agents due to his unruly behavior before take-off. He reportedly shouted on the airplane that on no account should the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, be sworn in as Nigerian leader. His strange behavior attracted the attention of other passengers and flight attendants who called in some security personnel to remove him from the plane.
In an interview with DAILY POST, Obiajulu’s lawyer, Barrister Ejike Ugwu, claimed that his client is mentally challenged. He added that Obiajulu was not in the right state of mind before boarding the flight and was chased away from a hotel in Abuja due to his mental state.
Further investigations into Obiajulu’s behavior have revealed two shocking discoveries. Firstly, it was discovered that he had booked three different flights for the same trip, which included Aero, Dana, and Ibom Air. He had three tickets for the same trip, which shows that he is mentally challenged.
Secondly, despite his condition, the police have reportedly not provided him with medical care, and he has suffered beatings which have left his legs swollen. Ugwu is calling for Obiajulu to be taken to the police clinic for treatment, but the police have not responded to his request.
This incident highlights the need for better care and support for mentally challenged individuals in Nigeria. It is important that the relevant authorities take steps to ensure that people like Obiajulu receive the necessary care and treatment they need to live a dignified life.
He said: “Obiajulu is not in the right state of mind; before he boarded the flight, he was chased away from a hotel in Abuja because of his mental state.
“He even booked three different flights for the Lagos trip. He booked Aero, Dana, and Ibom Air. He had three tickets for the same trip. So, there is no doubt that he is mentally challenged.
“As I speak to you, both the IPO handling the case and the DPO of the Police Division are nowhere to be found. And the suspect’s legs are all swollen now because of the several beatings he received at the Airport. He is critically sick right now.
“All I am asking for is that he should at least be taken to the police clinic.
“I have also made efforts to reach the Force PRO but he did not take my calls”
