Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has revealed two reasons why Nigerians voted for Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 election.
According to Governor Wike, Peter Obi scored over six million votes due to the fact that Southerners were already yearning for one of them to be the President of Nigeria after the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He emphasized that Peter Obi did not necessarily gather the figures he got because of his alleged integrity, but because Igbo people have been yearning for the presidency.
Secondly, Governor Wike stated that some people wanted a younger person. This was revealed during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on March 27.
“First, it was because of the belief that the presidency should go to the Southeast. Secondly, some people wanted a younger person.”
