Alex Otti, the governor-elect of Abia State, recently deleted a tweet on Twitter in which he referred to Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, as “my President in waiting.” This tweet was in response to Obi’s congratulatory message to Otti on his victory in the Abia State governorship election. In his message, Obi had expressed his satisfaction that the will of the Abia electorates had been respected and prayed for God’s guidance and protection for the incoming Governor of Abia State.
Otti had initially responded to Obi’s message with gratitude, thanking him for his kind words and prayer, and addressing him as “my President in waiting.” However, Otti later deleted the tweet without explanation. Some speculate that he may have received backlash or criticism for referring to Obi as “President in waiting.”
Despite the controversy, both Otti and Obi have expressed their commitment to working together for the betterment of Abia State. Obi had also spoken with Otti prior to the governorship election, wishing him success and offering his support. It remains to be seen whether Otti will provide an explanation for why he deleted the tweet.
